Is anyone else ready for Winter to be over?
I know I sure am! So creating cute, Spring-themed projects for this month's Blog Hop was a fun "escape" from the fact that it's not quite done being winter yet. Welcome to our Colors of Spring Blog Hop! We've added a few wonderful new ladies to our hop this time, to be sure to check out all the fun posts!
As I've mentioned a few times recently, I'm trying to find ways to use the same elements to create fresh new cards. So today I've put together a mini-showcase of some fabulous Spring cards.
Make sure to stop by the other blogs in our hop to see what Spring inspiration they've created for you, too!
I created this simple, one-layer card a while ago to give out with my business card when people asked about my Stampin' Up! business. (Of course, I was too shy to actually talk to people, so I have a lot of these cards hanging around in my apartment!)
Using that first card and a Retro Sketches sketch (for their choose-your-own adventure sketch challenge) as inspiration, I created this second Spring card. I used the same stamp set and same colors, but ended up with a completely different card. I love it! I added some of the Basic Pearls to the center of the Subtles Designer Buttons to give them that extra "something special" (and to tie in with the pearls in the upper right -- remember my whole thing about liking pairs? Yeah. That.)
But two cards just wasn't enough! (Did I mention how sick I am of winter? Cute spring cards help dispel "winter blues" - at least temporarily.) And so I created another card! Same colors, same stamps. But yet another completely different look! This one was inspired by the Create with Connie & Mary sketch -- CCMC241 (down below). And as an added bonus, the fun Silver Glimmer Paper behind the sentiment qualifies this card for CAS-ual Fridays CFC91! I love the sparkle it adds. Here's a close-up so you can fully appreciate its happiness:
Yes! I am ready for Spring, too!
ReplyDeleteFabulous card! I especially like the embossed frame - so many possibilities! Thanks for the inspiration and thanks for joinng us in the sketch challenge this week at Create with Connie and Mary!
Thanks! I was pretty proud of the embossed frame. I just did it on the Stampin' Up! Scoring Board, and it turned out even better than I thought it would!
DeleteI love your cards! One layer cards are hard for me, but yours is beautiful. That's a great idea to make a bunch then they are ready to hand out in a pinch. The CCMC card is very pretty. I love the little squares and the touch of silver glimmer paper.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kris! The glimmer paper is totally my favorite part too. What can I say, I'll always be distracted by shiny objects! ;) haha.
DeleteI got the idea of handing out cards with my business info from Pam, actually, I think. So thanks to her for the idea!
Very pretty cards! sorry you missed our deadline, but the good news is that a brand new challenge just started a few hours ago! We'd love to see you back this week at CAS-ual Fridays, The Clean And Simple Challenge
ReplyDeleteThanks for checking out my card anyway! I love your guys' challenges, so I will definitely be back!
DeleteI love all of these! Not to rub it iin, but it will be about 75 today in Vegas! Spring is here!!!
ReplyDeleteGee, thanks, Julie! Haha. Enjoy the warm weather! :)
DeleteThis makes me excited to use my Bright Blossom set again!
ReplyDeleteI love that set! This one is actually from the Button Buddies set, but the Bright Blossoms is a set I've been eyeing for some time now too!
DeleteI love the button card, and I love the silver glitter mat on the third card. And I understand completely- I made up a bunch of kits to give to strangers and carried them around for months, but never dared talk to anyone. sigh.... Good luck with that! :)
ReplyDeleteTanya, glad to know i'm not the only one who chickened out! :) Thanks for the comment, and glad you liked the cards!
DeleteVery pretty spring cards! Love the way you cut the blossoms out with a square on that last card.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Julie! It would have been so much easier if I'd used one of the square punches, though! Guess I should have come stamped at your place ;)
DeleteWhat a great assortment. I absolutely love the 3rd one! What a great idea to do with squares!
ReplyDeleteThat's my favorite too! Glad you enjoyed the cards :)
DeleteAll of your cards are beautiful! I love the button flowers.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I was really happy with how the flowers turned out too :)
